Devlog 4

During the last two weeks of our game's development,  we mainly altered three things: the game's audio, the choices, and the endings UI. In terms of audio, the characters' dialogue sounds have been completely removed, since that people's reception towards them did not affect the enjoyment of the game, and some people found them annoying.  In terms of choices, the  main thing that we altered was just adding a "confirm choice" option before the player can click on the "tell me more about it " option (see attached image on the left).  Lastly, for the endings UI, we implemented summaries of each of the game's different endings in the forms of small images that display before the player can move on to the next level (see attached image on the right).

Besides these small quality of life changes, we primarily focused on completing the game showcase presentation as well as updating our GDD.  The main things we updated were the character bios with actual artwork,  the descriptions of the different game mechanics,  and how the endings operate (see attached image on the right).

Because of the amount of things that worked surprisingly well (including how well players understood our game's subject matter during the third playtest), we realized that there were not too many things that needed major updates. However, because we wanted to focus our attention on the game showcase presentation along with other projects, there were some planned features that we ultimately cut. These features mainly included any main menu aspects, including an options menu for controlling sound and volume. Part of the reason we had to cut these features was because of poor planning ahead of time, since we did not review this semester's schedule thoroughly enough when making our master schedule in semester 1. This is something we are planning on changing during capstone.
